The rules may be reviewed here and here. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Have you ever heard of Arduino ® ? It is a microcontroller that helps you do many things such as robotics. Recently, I have been tinkering with the Arduino Uno R3 and the Arduino Sensor Kit from Seeed Studio. Since it's almost 2024 (Yay!) and the blog hasn't seen any new posts recently, I thought this was the perfect way to get back to it. What will you need?  You will need the following components for this project. Arduino Uno R3 Board Arduino Sensor Kit Base (from Seeed Studio)  A note about the Sensor Kit's contents:                    The Sensor Kit from Seeed Studio includes the following: LED Buzzer/Piezo (used in this project) OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) Display, 128×64 dots (...

How to Make An Apple Sandwich With Persimmon Cream

With Thanksgiving just 2 weeks away and not having posted anything, I decided it was time for me to post a recipe again.Previously when I posted one, it was back-to-school time so I posted quick snacks to provide. This recipe is just as quick, but instead of a snack, it's an amazingly healthy dessert for Thanksgiving!      The amounts in the recipe below are for one person. Please adjust your recipe as needed.   Ingredients: Hachiya Persimmon Crème Fraîche/Fresh Cream A Little Sugar (optional) Apple   Equipment: Grater Spoon Two small Bowls Knife   Procedure: To make the "Persimmon Cream": Grate part of the Hachiya persimmon into a bowl. Mix the grated particles with a dollop of cream until it is a lumpy batter. Add sugar to taste if needed. To make a sandwich: Step 1: Cut the apple in half. Step 2: Take out the seeds. Step 3: Slather the Persimmon Cream on the bottom half of the apple.  Step 4: Put the top half of the apple on...

Day 9

Day 9 is way better than most others in the 21-Day Challenge. What is it? 9. Replace 'I have to' with 'I get to.' Replacing something isn't very easy. But this time, replacing words, it is so simple! For example: 'I have to work on my blog post.' → 'I get to work on my blog post.' 'I have to go to school.' → 'I get to go to school.' 'I have to do homework.' → 'I get to do homework.' This helps gain a growth mindset.

Days 7 and 8

When I read Number Seven, my first thought was, "I already have this!" But, as it turned out, I did not . 7. Create a new morning routine. My new morning routine is Wake Up Jump Up And Down 1 min Study 5 mins Get Ready For School 10 mins Morning routines are important. They reassure you that the day will be fine. They wake you up and make you more alert. After a morning routine, you feel good about yourself.  After tomorrow, you might say, 'I'm an early bird!'  _____________________________________________  The early bird gets the worm, and it's definitely true in this case! 8. Wake up half an hour early. Well, today I did. Now I feel amazing! When you wake up early, nobody else is around. You can do as you like without anyone else stopping you. You also have more free time. When you wake up early, you aren't hurried. You aren't in a jostling crowd. You can move wherever you like without being squeezed. To sum it up, waking up early is good for yo...

Day 6

Looking at the calendar, I see that today is day 6 of the 21-Day Challenge. 6. Exercise for 30 minutes each day. Exercise means to move your body to keep fit. I think I should do some yoga. My favorite yoga videos are made by Cosmic Kids. Try some of their videos here . When you do yoga, you: exercise your muscles become more mindful When you have been staring at a screen for an hour, you absolutely need to move. Otherwise you will become stiff. If you become stiff, it'll be hard to move. Another way to get outside is to take a walk or a hike. It can be in your local park, or a national park, maybe even a cross-country or a hike on the Appalachian Trail! I guess it's time for me to take a walk. See you tomorrow!

Day 5

Welcome to A Sight To See Blog! For the next 16 days, the main event in here will be the 21-Day Challenge! Today is Day 5. 5. Write in your journal book. I consider this blog like an online journal, but I can also write in a literal journal. A journal is a way to express yourself and control your emotions. Instead of sobbing loudly or laughing uncontrollably, write about your sorrows, humor, and irritants in your journal. This will increase the chances of a pleasant household, and you get to work on your writing skills.

Day 4

Hello. Today is Day 4 of the 21-Day Challenge! 4. Pick up a book and read one chapter each day. This was easy for me, because I am an avid reader. I am going to read The First Four Years by Laura Ingalls Wilder . This is one of my favorite books. But I could have read a different book. I had read this before.

Day 3

Welcome back to the 21-Day Challenge ! Today is day 3!  3. Get rid of one thing each day. For me, this was hard. I usually save everything I can get my hands on 'because I might be able to use it later.' Unfortunately that doesn't happen frequently for me. But, today I decided to give up [ dun-dun-dun! ] my emoji bag: I think that today's challenge was interesting. What will tomorrow be?

The 21-Day Challenge! Days 1 and 2

I have decided to try the 21 Day Challenge , a self growth challenge to help you grow. I will update the blog every day. To access the anecdotes, search '21-Day Challenge' on this website.  Days 1 and 2. 1. Set a new goal and break it down into steps. My goal: To follow my schedule properly. My schedule is meant to keep me on task, however, I often stretch out activities to take longer than they are supposed to. One tool that helps me stay on track is the 'Focus Session' experience in the Windows Clock app. The focus session experience 2. Dedicate an hour each day to learn something new. I only have half-hour blocks in my schedule. So, I will dedicate half an hour to learn something new. Today, I played BINGO , ABC Song , Five Little Ducks, Brahms' Lullaby, and Old MacDonald Had A Farm . All by ear on the violin! So, I'll see you tomorrow!

3 Easy School Snacks You Can Prepare Beforehand

As the schools are reopening, it might be of some interest to everyone -- What if I don't have time to prepare a snack for [insert child's name here]? Here are 3 easy snacks you can prepare a day, week, or two weeks before school starts! 1. Fruit is easy to obtain. There are lots of things you can do with fruit - you can cut them up, bake them, eat them whole. The possibilities are endless. 2. Rolls can be made using any flatbread. Simply cook the flatbread. Place a large dollop of filling in the middle. Roll the bread, cut it into fourths, and wrap with plastic. When ready to eat, your child only has to unwrap the plastic. Yum! 3. Apple Marshmallow Pita Pocket is an easy dish. Use it for snack, lunch, or both! It is so filling, your child will not want a single snack after devouring this whole-wheat sweet delicacy. (And neither will you!!) They'll get quite excited on seeing this -- the trick is the marshmallows. Of course, you can also use chocolate!

My Trip To Crater Lake and Redwood National Parks

Last month, my family took a trip to Crater Lake, Oregon, and Redwood National and State Parks, California. Along the way, we discovered many scenic views -- and that most highways don't have cellphone service. Our itinerary included several national and state sites. In Southern Oregon, we visited the iconic Crater Lake in Klamath County. Our time traveling in the Golden State covered parts of Humboldt, Del Norte, Shasta, Alameda, and Santa Clara Counties. Here are a few of my favorite experiences. Access our itinerary here . Viewing Mount Shasta On our way to Crater Lake, we saw some awe-inducing views of the enviable Mt. Shasta. According to USGS.gov , the mountain formed on the remnants of an older volcano that collapsed around half a million years ago. We also viewed a mountain I don't know the name of. Mt. Shasta as seen from one point on US-97   We think this mountain is called Black Butte, but we're not sure.     Are we right? Tell us in the comments with the hasht...
